- The Truth About Magic Spells: Are They Real or Imagined
Since the beginning of time people have leaned on their faith in spirituality and belief in mysticism to accomplish the extraordinary. Long before the practice of 'modern medicine' became the norm, typically health concerns were treated with a dose of spirituality, voodoo, witchcraft, astrology, or psychic power from any number of paranormal sources. You wouldn't think of trying to tackle your daily trials and tribulations without help from the 'unseen' world. However, that was in the dark ages... long before we were gifted with the miracle of modern science. But, let's get into it... is it wise for modern man to laugh in the face of what once was a well respected way of being and believing? In today's world, with so much respect given to mainstream religion you would imagine the same respect would be given to beliefs of all types. But as we know even mainstream religion is mocked, so it's easy to laugh at those that believe in the powers of the paranormal, occult, magic, psychic or new age remedies. Often being labeled woo woo non-sense or trend seekers following the latest counter-culture fad. Although, it's at the fundamental core of human beings to search for the truth. Let's be real, today we face our fair share of day-to-day problems that we're striving to find solutions to. Issues with love, money, and health, just to name a few. Life can be a struggle for some many around the world who seek solutions to their problems. And for so many, magic spells feel like the answer they've been looking for. Just go to Google and search love spells or magic spells. You'll get endless results for psychics and spell casters who claim to help make your problems disappear, or bring you astonishing results. Think that's crazy? Well, when asked, the majority of people who partake in these spells will tell you that they feel that they really work for them. So, how can we know that a love spell performed by a psychic have actually attracted a soulmate for a lonely person seeking a partner? Or if that money spell really helped that struggling assistant get the promotion and raise that they desired? And what about that healing spell that helped to cure your neighbours back pain? Of course the 'non-believers' will highlight the possible coincidence or other form of logical explanation resulting in"mind over matter." (Side not is magic just manifestation - we'll discuss in a later post). But those who believe in spells, rituals, and psychic powers could think otherwise.. and do think otherwise. So, is there a spiritual or metaphysical helping hand involved? Speaking to many self-professed psychic experts and ritual practitioners, who have studied spirituality, psychic phenomena, and the art of spell casting. They believe would stress that there is so much more to all of this than what first meets the eye. Let's think about it this way, most mainstream (and well respected/accepted) religions accept the power of prayer as a way to receive blessings and protection from spiritual sources. Additional for some time now even medical professionals are recognising that an individuals faith and beliefs can play a huge role in improving their quality of life & health. However, while many doctors will admit that there is some benefit to holistic and alternative medicines, you'll be pressed to find any who will publicly encourage seeking answers from a psychic or magic spell. There has and seemingly (for some time anyway) will always be a stigma around visiting a psychic, spell caster, or fortune teller. Will onlookers going as far as calling the participant desperate for seeking alternate truths. However, truthfully one could argue that the psychic industry has brought much of the skepticism onto itself. With things like questionable late night television infomercials for psychic readings. For many the first thing that comes to mind when they think of a fortune teller is a con artists or carnival fortune tellers. Just look at how astrology and other psychic-related ads have that tiny disclaimer at the bottom that says "for entertainment purposes only." It's about as phoney as pro wrestling, right? Well, don't be too quick to agree. There are more people than you think who use money or love spells on a regular basis, in an attempt to restore a bad relationship, or gain financial freedom. And they're not necessarily the people you may think. True believers come from all walks of life, professions, income levels, religious affiliations and nationalities. Ok yeah, some may rely too much on seeking guidance and help from the psychic world, but most of them are die-hard believers of the occult and would not have it any other way. They'll swear by the spells that have worked for them. Their lives being enriched in a thousand different ways, arguing that you are the one missing out on something amazing because of close mindedness. I will give you that people are curious, going back to our earlier point. Humans are innately curious, adaptive, and always seeking answers to life's questions. Asking "Are these spells real?", "Can they actually make things happen that I can't on my own?". If spells can do what they claim they can do (improve love life, attract more money, generally make your life better) than the answer has to be "Yes." A spell that does what it is supposed to do has got to be real. Right? Whether or not it's 'mind over matter' if the spell delivers the results your were seeking, then it has to be real. Of course, it helps if you have a positive outlook, and believe that the spell can truly help you. But Believers will tell you that those who refuse to open their minds to the possibilities of magic spells and spiritual solutions will never know what they're missing. Maybe it's the 'non-believers' who are experiencing 'mind over matter' only their minds are closed to the beautiful possibilities that 'magic' could bring into their lives. Why limit your world to just the few things that you can see and touch? After all, what you see isn't always what you get.
- LoA Basics - The Law of Attraction
You may have heard a lot about The Law of Attraction lately or (LoA) in books, blogs, social media, and videos. It seems to be everyone, but what does it really mean? If I just really, really want something it'll just come to me? ...We'll, yeah, kinda. The Law of Attraction was made most popular in today's culture in it's newest informational incarnation, the book and movie, The Secret. But way before that in the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. But what is The Law of Attraction really and is it real or woo woo none-sense (in the words of Marie Forleo)? In this post we are going to get into The Basics that are LoA. LoA has actually been around forever, as have its proponents. Long before today's books and YouTube videos have popularised it. People through the years have simply talked about it without using the term 'Law of Attraction' but it has always existed and has always been the same thing. But the best way to describe it is what Norman Vincent Peale calls in his wildly popular book, The Power of Positive Thinking. But why is it so hard to figure out, and more importantly, how do you harness it? Well, here's the thing, to use it properly, you first have to understand it. So here goes, in a nutshell... First, most proponents of LoA do believe that you attract everything that happens to you, good or bad. This is both the back bone of LoA and the primary issue for most people hearing about it for the first time. It's difficult to get your heard around the concept. Although, even the so-called "experts" vary in their opinions on this point to some extent, which I'll discuss later. Now, it's easy to get to this point and tap out saying "You're crazy if you think I want to be broke (or sick, etc.)!" And yeah, you're right. I would be crazy t think you want anything bad to happen to you. Realistically we can assume (under most circumstances) that no one wants anything bad to happen to them. So, here's where the confusion comes in, and here's where I can help to un-confuse things a bit. If you're attracting something to you, it doesn't mean you want it. Let me say that again. If you are attracting something to you, it does not mean you want it. It simply means you somehow have rooted into your mind that it's what you expect. It's your reality. Let's take money as an example as wealth and abundance (or lack thereof) is a huge focus in LoA. Let's say you struggle to pay your rent and basic bills every month, even though you're working really hard. Let's assume for a minute that LoA is right and that you are attracting this to yourself. Does that mean you want that to be happening? No, of course not. But it probably does mean that somewhere, somehow, you have a deep rooted belief of lacking or not having enough within you when it comes to money. Maybe your parents were (decent, hardworking, well-meaning) people who said, "Money doesn't grow on trees," or "There's never enough to go around". If you grew up with these or similar messages and you have them rooted in your subconscious, you may have a belief that this is your reality, and somehow, for you, money is supposed to be scarce and hard to come by. So, that's what you attract as your experience, and your reality. Money is indeed "scarce" and "had to come by," and you never have enough. Now, just recognising this fact goes a long way towards changing your "energetic vibration," which you hear a lot about when someone's talking about LoA. Your vibration is basically a signal you send out to the universe, and that signal attracts what it matches back to you. So, if you're always worried about and struggling with money, guess what you attract? Yep, more worry and struggle with money. Does this mean you can just say, "Well, I'll just quit worrying about money then, and things will be fine!"? Not necessarily, while many proponents of LoA would give a resounding "Yes!" to that answer, many would say that for most of us, we need baby steps and practice that will ultimately get us into that mindset. If you are eating a meal, you are focused only on what you are eating, including the textures, flavors, and sensations. You aren’t watching TV or thinking about your budget meeting. You only focus on your meal. This practice can also be used with meditation. Mindfulness is not easy to pick up right away, especially during a busy day when your negative thoughts and stressful situations creep up in your mind constantly. This is why you should start by also practicing meditation. HOW TO START MEDITATING Instead of trying to stress yourself out with both mindfulness and meditation at the same time, start slow. Just start with basic meditating. Find yourself a quiet space where you can really focus on meditation. This can be anywhere from your bedroom at night before bed to even the shower or when you are going for a walk. If you can do it at home where you can sit comfortably with your eyes closed, that can be helpful. Start your meditation by focusing on your breathing and only thinking about breathing. Focus on taking in each breath and letting it out. Think about your lungs, and not about your next meal or all the appointments you have next week. This simple act will help you to retrain your mind to think about just one thing, which is the essence of both meditation and mindfulness. USING MINDFULNESS WITH MEDITATION Now that you have a good introduction to meditation, you can start using mindfulness. Once you get used to sitting quietly and trying to clear your mind of all those nagging thoughts and only think about your breathing, you can then start with the practice of mindfulness. This is when you are only concerned with the present moment. Once you have the breathing practice down, choose just one thought to focus on. Only one thing happening in this current moment. This is a good introduction into how mindfulness meditation works. BENEFITS OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION Before discussing more tips on mindfulness meditation, it helps to know why you should start this practice. There are actually many advantages to mindfulness meditation, from lowering your stress to helping with your mind’s focus, memory, and concentration. Mindfulness meditation can also help your physical health, which is something many people are not fully aware of. Take a look at some of these benefits of mindfulness meditation. Stress Reduction One of the top reasons people like mindfulness meditation is because it helps reduce their stress. HOW TO START DOING MINDFULNESS MEDITATION You have already had a brief introduction into what mindfulness meditation is and how it works, but let’s go a little deeper into the practice. You will also learn some helpful methods, tips, and tricks that can help you if you are new to meditation. Where to Meditate As mentioned briefly in the previous section, you need to start by choosing the right place for your meditation. Schedule a time of the day when nobody else is home or when you have few distractions. Wait until the kids are at school or asleep, your significant other is otherwise engaged, and let the dogs outside for a bit. Every little distraction, from a knock on the door to a cell phone ringing is going to break you out of the meditation. You only need about 15-20 minutes to start with. For now, try to choose a place in the house where you can sit quietly and close your eyes. Eventually, meditation can be anywhere you find it relaxing, from driving to work to go for a walk or hike. However, right now you want to practice with your eyes closed, so choose your bedroom, living room, or even on your patio if it is quiet and peaceful enough. Sit in your location with your eyes close and in a relaxing position. It should be a position where you will not be fidgeting or moving around constantly. Keep your back straight and hands relaxed. What to Focus On Once you have gotten into the right position, you can start with your mindfulness meditation. Traditional meditation calls for clearing your mind completely, so that is a good first step. Focus on your breathing first to clear your mind of all distractions, stressful situations, plans, and schedules. Put your to-do list away and watch your negative feelings and thoughts float away. Once you are only thinking about your breathing, your mind is clear, and you can start the mindfulness portion. This is when you are focusing on just one thing, one thought, one scenario. You are being mindful of the present, so it can be as simple as thinking about the act of meditation or a scent you smell in the air. What you focus on is not as important as the act of meditation to relax your body and mind. Find a Singular Object It can also help to focus on a single object with your eyes opened or closed. If you want to close your eyes, get an object that is simple to hold in your hand. This can be anything that is small and easy to feel in your hands. You will close your eyes and hold this object, touching its details and curves, focusing on the sensations, shape, and size, and not on any other thoughts that try to creep in. You can also choose a visual object, such as focusing on a painting on the wall or placing an object right in front of you. Look at the colors, textures, and design of that object. What you are doing is training your mind to release all other thoughts and focus on one singular thing. Be Patient Remember to always be patient. Both mindfulness and meditation will take practice and is not something you are going to pick up right away. People need time to get used to clearing their minds and having a singular focus. You have lived all these years trying to multi-task, do everything at once, think about every little thing that could go wrong, making plans and schedules, and to-do lists. It takes time just to relax and be in the moment, so make sure you are patient with yourself. INCORPORATE ESSENTIAL OILS WITH MEDITATION As a final note, we want to discuss using essential oils in combination with meditation. This can be really helpful, especially for beginners. You are not only going to focus on the scents to help with mindfulness, but certain scents can actually help you relax even further. Good Essential Oils to Use You can use any oils you want, but there are some that are good for relaxing and calming the mind. Here is a list of some essential oils to try out, and the reasons why they are so helpful. Lavender One of the best and most relaxing essential oil scents to start with is lavender. Lavender is perfect for stress relief, lowering anxiety, and helping your mind and body to fully relax. You will feel calm with a scent that isn’t too strong or overbearing. Lemon You can also try lemon, which is especially good when you are doing the mindfulness meditation in the morning or when you want to be a little more alert. This is a fresh scent that also helps with improving your mood, reducing allergies, and improving your respiratory system. Peppermint Peppermint is a bit of a stronger scent, but you can dilute it even more or put a little less into your oil diffuser. Peppermint is good for oral health, respiratory support, and better focus and concentration. Like lemon, it is also a great mood lifter. Rose Rose is a light floral scent that will calm and relax your mind, while also helping your body to relax. This is good for beginners, and can easily be mixed with some of the other scents.
